思考 Smart, Living Well
斑鸠 is now offering a senior elective course, entitled 思考 Smart, Living Well. This course focuses on the variety of factors that influence decision-making.
We usually assume that character is a major factor in our decision-making behavior. What the research and neuroscience is now revealing is that there are a constellation of other influences that come into play when making judgements.
People who believe that their thinking can be improved are actually better problem-solvers than those who believe their mental abilities are fixed for all time. And good decision-making depends not only on how quickly or slowly you think, but on how open-minded you are to learning to think better.
Student decisions are influenced by emotions, character strengths, resilience, and thinking processes, and thinking about thinking can actually make students smarter.
